RELIVING

Beneath the autumn sky
I saw him sitting
Astride the crescent moon
Fishing
For memories
That had become stars
So very long ago
And I can’t help but wonder
If mine would be one
He would keep
In his basket perhaps
If not his heart
Or would he just drop it back
Into the sea of fireflies
To be lost forever
Fading….
Silently emptying
Its drops of love
Into the vast indigo!

INEXPLICABLE

I tried to capture you in my words
Maybe because that's all I have
The only way to touch
But the most I could retrieve
Was a little bit of your sillage
Lingering between my fingertips
For how can words describe
The way
You caught my whispers
Within your lips?
Or the way you danced me
Upon the stars
Twirling madly.
The way you made me fall in love
With the beauty that darkness hides
Or the tenderness
That seeps
From fallen tears of rain
I tried to paint you with my ink
But all in vain

It’s true
That you are not
From the well of my ink
My ink is
Because of you!

SINGULAR

I must have had a million conversations with you
Or maybe more
I talk to you oftener than I breathe!
And you captivate my senses.
We talk of everything under the sun
And then
We talk some more, beneath the mellow moon
With the stars looking on
Straining to hear what we say
But I'm sure they can't decipher
Our muted whispers
The words are there
But the meanings
Are just for us to hear
It’s our own little world
With you and me
And your deep silky voice
For company!
If I were to really talk to you
If….
What would I say?
Will we just take up
From where we left off last night
Or would it be another thread of thought
That you'll weave?
Will your voice flow over me like I remember
In tones of dark chocolate
Mixed with a tang of mint?
Or will it have a bit of honey as well
And completely blow me!
But sometimes, I think
It's all a dream
This conversation
For my tongue will be tied tight
In spirals
With a string
just like my stomach
The mere thought of your tones
Tangling with mine
Makes my insides churn
Into warm mush within liquid bones
No!
I doubt if I will be able to utter
A single coherent sound
All I'll do is look into your eyes
And promptly forget to listen
To whatever your words are trying to say
Until suddenly
I'll begin to flow madly
Like a waterfall that's just found its way
But whatever, it might be
I'm sure with both you and me
In it
At least, it's not going to be ordinary!

EPISTLES

I’ve written a million notes
Of love
My words are worn thin
I wish I could give them to you
But I can’t!
I’m afraid
Of life’s double edged sword
It takes back what it gives, heartlessly
Still, I hope one day
In another world, if not in this
God would seat you next to me
And I would give to you my all
That I carry in my veins
Till then, I dip my pen in tears
And keep writing my heart out
In notes
To place them carefully
In the folds of the wind
Maybe when I’m ready to go
She will bring them all to you
And you’ll know
That we were more than just a dream!

SILENT ELOQUENCE

All things are not meant to be caged in words.
Some just need to roam free

Maybe
You’d smell your fragrance upon my breath
Hear your name singing in my blood
Feel my heart beat, in sync with yours
And if that’s not explicit enough
Perhaps
You’d unravel the writing across the sky
By the mellifluous old-lace moon
As it melts away into the sea
Maybe
The soft murmur of the leaves
And tender whispers of the breeze
Would tell you wordlessly
How much you mean to me!

FOUND

There lies a beautiful world
Beyond the dripping gibbous moon
Your world!
I look at it often
Yet all it is
Is an elusive, formless wisp
It hurts, to not touch its warmth
But I feel blessed to have
The beckoning love of a misty musk
That greets me every dawn and dusk
With a smoky wet soul-kiss
A love is a love, always so cherished
Even that of a blushing horizon
A wish upon a tangerine whiff
It belongs to the sun, and the stars
Still it wanders over to me, to sit
Cross- legged
At ease
Atop my parted lips

OSCULATION

It has been a while
Since I thought of rain
As drops of water from above
To me
They feel more like
Stolen kisses of love!
Sometimes butterfly flutters
Barely there
At others insistent,
Fast and hard
But my favourites are
The gentle ones
Soft and moist and lingering
Bewitching flicks
Across moistened lips
They drown me in an abyss
Of bliss!
Do you feel the clouds quivering?
